Terry Hall whos real name is Terence Edward Hall was an English musician and the lead singer of the Specials, and formerly of Fun Boy Three, the Colourfield, Terry, Blair & Anouchka and Vegas.
Terry Hall dies at 63 on December 18, 2022. Hall passed away at the age of 63 following a brief illness.
Most of the original Specials reunited in 2008, staged a 30th-anniversary tour in 2009 and in 2019 released an album of new material, “Encore,” which became the band’s first U.K. No. 1 album. A follow-up, “Protest Songs 1924-2012,” was released in 2021.
What’s Special In a statement, Terry Hall paid tribute to one of their own.
“Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls,” they wrote.
“His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.
“He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity.”
In a separate message, Staple told the BBC he had learned of his friend’s passing as he landed in Egypt for a holiday with his wife. “It’s really hit me hard,” he said. “We fronted The Specials and Fun Boy Three together, making history. “Terry, he surely will be missed.”
