Ghana Police Service is amongst the infamous public institutions across the country for several reasons. The Police Service is constantly associated with corruption. As an initiative to conduct business in order to salvage its dying image,the Ghana Police Service has realized a list of its paid service.

What is the Ghana Police Service?

The Ghana Police Service a governmental organization which is legally mandated to maintain law and order across the country.The legal instrument backing the mandate with which the Ghana Police Service works with is found in the constitution of Ghana (1992), Police Act, 1970 (Act 350) and the Police Service regulation 2012 (C.I 76).

What are the functions of the Ghana Police Service?

The functions of workers and officers at the Ghana Police Services can be generally said to be:

  • To prevent and detect crime
  • To apprehend offenders
  • To maintain public order and safety of persons and properties.

The paid services and reasons

The Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service is the division that compiled the list of services and statutory fees charged by the various departments of the Service. This is is ensure transparency in the police service and also ensure accountability of the Police Service to Ghanaians. The paid services offered by the Ghana Police Service are:

  • Police Clearance
  • Vetting Board of Directors
  • Fixed guard or Specie and Escort duties
  • Police Social or Event Centres
  • Police band
  • Firearms registration
  • Short gun registration

Police Clearance

The police provides services like:

  • Nominal vetting of non-residents which costs GH ¢ 1,200.00
  • Ordinary vetting of residents which costs GH¢ 100.00 together with two (2) passport size pictures
  • Employment vetting which costs GH¢ 60.00
  • Fingerprint request on CID Form 59 which costs GH¢ 60.00
  • Authentication of Police Clearance which costs GH¢ 50.00

Vetting Board of Directors

The Police Service offers services like:

  • Bank of Ghana vetting which costs GH¢ 500.00
  • Education vetting which costs GH¢ 60.00
  • Security and Exchange commission vetting which costs GH¢ 60.00
  • Document Examination which costs GH¢ 1, 000.00
  • Will (Signature Analysis) which costs GH¢ 1, 000.00
  • Investigation Report which costs GH¢ 80.00
  • Authentication of Police Clearance which costs GH¢ 50.00
  • Adoption Vetting which costs GH¢ 60.00
  • Police Accident Report which costs GH¢ 80.00
  • Bonded Warehouse certificate which costs GH¢ 130.00

Fixed guard or Specie and Escort duties

The police provides services like;

  • Escort for 1hr – 8hrs which GH¢ 700.00 per head per month
  • Escort for 9hrs – 12hrs which costs GH¢ 900.00 per head per month
  • Specie and Escort duties which is GH¢ 700.00 per head per month
  • Escort for 24hrs which is GH¢ 2100.00 per month

Police band

  • Ceremonial band costs GH¢2,500.00
  • Dance band which is GH¢2,000.00

  • New Registration which costs GH¢ 200.00
  • Renewal is GH¢ 150.00

Short gun registration

  • New Registration is GH¢20.00
  • Renewal which costs GH¢10.00
